Continuing Education is now required for all California RVTs. Prior to each re-licensing, RVTs must accumulate 20 CE credit hours from an approved provider.

Beginning on July 1, 2013, the VMB shall only issue renewal registrations to applicants who have completed a minimum of 20 hours of CE in the preceding two years. At least 16 hours must come from qualifying courses conducted by approved CE providers, such as CaRVTA. A maximum of 4 hours of self study can be counted toward required CE hours.

This requirement does not apply to initial licensure or first-time renewals, only second-time and subsequent RVT license renewals.

CE Certificates of Attendance
CaRVTA has two Certificates of Attendance that you can use when attending a CE program. If you are applying to become an RVT using the Alternate Route, you need to supply documentation of course attendance. Choose the certificate that suits your needs.

The Veterinary Medical Board will accept these Certificates as proof of attendance when they are filled out and signed by a qualified instructor.
